How to Disable AVG Browser Extension and AVG Notifications?

Disable AVG’s Browser Extensions:

AVG tries to install an “AVG Web TuneUp” browser extension in your device. The modern version of Chrome and Firefox does not allow antivirus to install extensions without your permission, but if in case, you have installed the extension in your device then you should uninstall it, as it makes you less safe online.

In Chrome, you should click on the menu and then just select More Tools and then choose Extensions. After this, you should click on the trash can icon which is next to AVG Web TuneUp just to remove it.

In Firefox, you have to click on the menu button and then just select “Add-ons”. After this, you should click on the “Remove” button which is on the right of AVG Web TuneUp on the Extensions tab.

In Internet Explorer, you should click on the gear icon on Internet Explorer’s toolbar and then you have to select “Manage Add-ons”. After this, you should click on the “AVG Web TuneUp” item which is in the “Toolbars and Extensions” list and then just click on “Disable” option.

Instead of this, you can also select to uninstall the AVG Web TuneUp component entirely from your device. To uninstall AVG Web TuneUp, you should go to Control Panel and then click on Uninstall a Program. This will uninstall the “AVG Web TuneUp” application from your device.

Disable AVG’s Notifications:

You just have to click on the “Antivirus” icon which is in the AVG Zen window just to access your AVG antivirus settings. Now, you have to click on the “Menu” button which is located at the top right hand side of the AVG Antivirus window and then just select “Settings” option. AVG regularly gives popup notifications, if in case you want to disable all these notifications and popups, then you have to activate the “Silent Mode” checkbox on the General pane and then click on “OK” button.

You can also customize which notifications should appear on your screen. For this, you have to leave the Silent Mode checkbox disabled and just expand the “Popups” section. Here, you can set the duration for information, update, warning, and alert pop ups. Now, AVG will just warn you if it faces an error while updating its virus definitions or program software.

In case, you don’t want these notifications, then you can disable them. For this, you just have to click on the “Update” tab which is located at the left side of the Settings window and then uncheck “Show notification box if an error occurs” under Details option.

Hence, AVG will still protect your device from viruses and malware but you will not get any browser notifications and other notifications.
