Manage Different Aspects of AVG Scan Setting:

Use Tabs located on the Left side of the Window to Manage Your AVG Scan:

  1. Sensitivity:

Through Sensitivity screen allows you to set settings for the scan. Heuristic helps to detect unknown malware by just analyzing the code which shows malicious content. To test the suspected malware, you can use Code Emulator so that the file cannot cause damage to your PC. Sensitivity enables you to tick Test whole files to scan the entire files. PUP and suspicious files enable you to tick Scan for unwanted applications which are performing unwanted activity and downloaded with other programs. If you tick it allow AVG to scan other files.

  1. Packers:

With the Packers screen you can show the compressed file types and enable AVG to unpack during the scan. It scans those files for malware when they are unpacked. Unpacking a file is similar to extract a file from an archive. Other archive does not require scanning as they do not harm your PC. In case, if you tick All packers, it will scan the archive files, which automatically increases the scan duration.

  1. Actions:

This will give automatic responses to any threats which is detected by the scan. For this first you have to tick Automatically apply actions during scan. Then you have to select a file type and after this, you have to select the action which you want the scan to apply like Fix automatically, Move to Quarantine, Repair, Delete, and No action. You can also tick perform the selected action at the next restart. If the scan identify a malicious file then you can choose the action like try to remove only the packed file from the archive; if it fails, do nothing, Try to remove only the packed file from the archive; if it fails, remove the whole containing archive, and you can also choose always remove the whole archive. At the end, click on OK button.

  1. Performance:

You can choose the setting for the scan like Scan Priority, Speed up scanning, Store data about scanned files, and also speed up scanning by reading files.

  1. Report File:

If you want the scan to give you report after each scan. For this, you have to tick Generate report file. After this, you have to give the name of the file, then select the format of the file type, if file exists then you have to select Append to add the result at the end of previous report, or select Overwrite to replace the previous report. And also gives the content of the report like Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK items and Skipped items. At the end, you have to click on Ok button.

  1. Exception:

This screen specifies files or folder which you want to ignore while scanning.

  1. Scheduling:

For scheduling, you have to Tick Schedule this scan and then specify that you want the scan to run Once, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. Then you can select your preferences like Do not start the scan if running on batteries, Pause the scan if batteries mode begins, Wake up the system to scan, Shut down the system after the scan complete. After this, you can set the time if you want the scan to run in 24-hour format. You can also specify the day on which you want the scan to run. At the end, just click OK button.
